Mississippi River Steamboat

This is the Natchez, a steamboat on the Mississippi River in New Orleans. The boat cruises up and down the river twice a day. Passengers can listen to jazz music as they eat traditional southern food for lunch or dinner.

Mark Twain was a steamboat captain when he was a young man. His pen name actually are words used to measure the depth of the river by riverboat captains. This steamboat is similar to the one in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and other stories written by Mark Twain.
